Rise Up

I know just from being bullied by my peers, by my father, that when people keep coming at you, saying you’re lesser, that you’re weird, that you don’t matter, some part of you starts believing it. Some part of you starts doubting, thinking all those people may be right, maybe there IS something wrong with you, that you’re lesser, that you don’t matter as much. Maybe you even start hating yourself a little bit and start hating the part of you that hates you. And it can cripple you, which seems to prove their point, and it all gets so messed up and confused.

But it’s all bullshit.

There was never anything wrong with me, lesser, that didn’t matter as much. That hate has always been a sickness in the minds of haters, maybe passed on from others who hated them, or taught to them by those they believed in.

And there’s nothing wrong with YOU because of the color of your skin, or because you’re weird, or queer, or like computers or stamp collecting. There’s nothing lesser about YOU, that YOU matter any less than any other human being.

So when they tell you to sit down, shut up, and know your place, you tell THEM oh hell no, I won’t sit down, I will NOT shut up, and my place is the same damn place as every other human being on this Earth.

Insist, resist, persist!

And I am with you, every step of the way.
